Toyota has revived Hakone which first appeared as a limited-edition model for the Toyota GR86 in 2020. It’s based on the Premium version and includes the same Performance Pack introduced with the 2024 Trueno edition. It comprises Sachs dampers and Brembo brakes. The Japanese carmaker, meanwhile, has built an all-wheel-drive, turbocharged GR86 for the Specialty Equipment Market Association in Las Vegas. The concept is based on the present-generation Toyota GR86 sports car, while the design is inspired by the Celica GT-Four rally cars of the 1990s. In the Emirates, the 2025 Toyota GR86 is available in three models.

  • Toyota has made the GR86 look sleeker in this second-generation version, with the two-door coupe receiving a more rounded roofline and a low-slung stance, coupled with revised design elements.
  • At the front, the Toyota GR86 has a large trapezoidal air dam with honeycomb mesh inserts and tapered edges, which along with the curvaceous bonnet, makes the front profile look aerodynamic. The sides of the front fascia have curvy-looking headlamps, which have LED projectors and L-shaped LED DRLs within them. There are inverted L-shaped air curtains on the corners of the front bumper.
  • The Toyota GR 86 has a typical two-door design with smoothly-contoured fenders and door-mounted rearview mirrors. The air curtains of the front fenders and 18-inch black alloy wheels make the GR86 look even sportier.

Interior

  • While there are prominent changes on the outside of the Toyota GR86, the cabin of the sports coupe doesn’t feel too fresh in its appearance. The GR86 has a driver-centric all-black cabin with contrast red accents, which does look sporty but could have been more modern in its appearance.
  • The full-TFT instrument console placed behind the three-spoke multi-functional steering wheel of the Toyota GR86 is the most modern-looking element of the cabin of this two-door sports coupe. The centre console has a standalone rectangular touchscreen infotainment system, which has three-rounded dials for automatic climate control below it.
  • The lower half of the centre console also has toggle-like switches for various functions. The cabin here is decently equipped with a few modern features like heated seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, sports seats with electrical adjustability for the driver’s seat, a split-opening front centre armrest and aluminium pedals, though we would have liked to see more features on board.
