Audi is working on the 2024 A5 Sportback which is expected to have its international debut later this year. A prototype of the car was recently photographed during a test run, albeit in a heavily camouflaged avatar. Audi will merge the A4 and A5 into a single model. It's part of the German manufacturer's plan to have odd numbers for ICE cars and even numbers for all-electric vehicles to avoid confusion. The next-generation A5 Sportback is expected to have a fully overhauled cabin with a free-standing digital instrument cluster. The interior will be full of leather. The Audi A5 Sportback is the four-door version of the A5 coupe, which makes it neatly positioned between the more traditional A4 and A6 sedans. With a sloping coupe-like roofline, the Audi A5 Sportback appears to be as a more stylish version of the A4 sedan, as it features much of its cabin highlights and powertrain with the A4. While the Audi A5 Sportback is based on the A4 sedan platform, it gets a more distinctive styling on the outside, which makes it look like an altogether different model. Compared to the two-door A5 Coupe, the Audi A5 Sportback has a more conventional four-door design, though with a sloping roofline, it retains the stylish appearance of the coupe version.
At the front, the Audi A5 Sportback has a large hexagonal grille in the middle, which has dark chrome surrounds and a hexagonal mesh design on the inside. The headlamps on the sides have curved upper edges, and come with all-LED lighting with dynamic LED DRLs. Audi is also offering the option of more premium Matrix LED headlamps with laser lights for an added cost. The rounded fog lamps on the corners of the dashboard have busy-looking housings, with trapezoidal dark chrome surrounds and large faux air dams.
